IBAMA ISSUES OPERATING LICENSE FOR VIA BRASIL BR-163

License is the first issued after the Interministerial Ordinance of 04/11/2020

Ibama - Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources - issued this week, on June 06, 2022, the Operation License for Via Brasil BR-163 regarding the highway stretch in Mato Grosso. The concessionaire, which belongs to the Conasa Group, is responsible for managing the 1,009 kilometers of BR-163/230/MT/PA, between Sinop (MT) and the ports of Miritituba (PA).

This is the first license issued to a private highway entrepreneur after the MMA/MINFRA Interministerial Ordinance no. 1, of 11/04/2020. It means that the project, with the improvements stipulated in the concession contract signed with the National Agency of Land Transportation (ANTT), is legally and environmentally ready to carry out maintenance, improvements, and the installation of bases, squares, traffic islands, and other support structures.

The license is valid for five years and covers permission for other urgent and emergency actions. The concession contract is for 10 years. The set of improvements planned for the first year of the concession include the complete restoration of the asphalt on the stretches in Mato Grosso and Pará, between Sinop (MT) and the Port of Miritituba (PA), one of the main corridors for the flow of grain production from the Midwest and the North region.

During the concession period, three accesses to the Miritituba (PA) ports will be built and bridges, drainage systems, and fencing will be completely rehabilitated, as well as other conservation services such as weeding, essential activities to raise safety levels and comfort for users, guaranteeing better traffic flow.
