The President of Conasa announced funds for the development of water and sewage systems in 12 months.

In one year’s time, Itapema will be among the Brazilian cities with the largest sewage treatment system in the country. Mário Marcondes Neto, president of Conasa Infraestrutura, announced last Friday (22), during the opening of the World Water Day, which brought journalist André Trigueiro for a lecture on water sustainable management that the Company has already R$ 100 million to invest in sewage collection expansion works from 74% to 90 % in 12 months. This objective will be met with the construction of 3 km of a sewage collection system in the Jardim Praia and Morretes neighborhoods.

Investments will also be made in the expansion and modernization of the Sewage Treatment Plant in Morretes and in the construction of another water treatment plant in Itapema, with the capacity to process 125 liters per second and store seven million liters of potable water. The water reservoir pond will also be expanded to store more than 200 million liters of untreated water. Currently, Itapema has already 290 million liters of untreated water in its reservoir and already supplies potable water to 100% of the population. Investments are motivated by population growth and county expansion.

Works already started on March 11 at Jardim Praia Mar and will expand to the city of Morretes. “We will have to count with the understanding of the population regarding the inconveniences caused by these works. Around 500 people will be working for 12 months to bring quality of life and socioeconomic development to Itapema. Certainly, it will be one of the largest investments made in sanitation in the State, generating great number of jobs during the period”, he stated.
