PROPERTY APPRECIATION PER SQUARE METER IN ITAPEMA IS THE HIGHEST IN THE COUNTRY

Geography and quality of life with private investments in sanitation are the main attributes for the expansion of a city that celebrates 59 years in April.

FIPE 2021 - Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas (Institute for Economic Research Foundation) – updated the annual FipeZap index, pointing out the property appreciation per square meter in Itapema (SC) as the highest in Brazil, with the percentage of 13.65%, in a period of 12 months. FipeZap is the first price index with national coverage that follows average sales and rental values of residential and commercial properties.

The cities of Balneário Camboriú and Florianópolis, also in Santa Catarina, had an annual variation of 7.05% and 7.35% in appreciation values, respectively. The second city with the highest appreciation, behind Itapema, was Manaus (AM) with 11%, followed by Maceió (AL) with 9.48%.  According to the president of Sinduscon Costa Esmeralda, Rodrigo Passos Silva, Itapema has a history of property appreciation due to its geography and climate, which makes the city the third tourist destination in the State, and its quality of life, which has attracted new residents, being the city with the highest demographic growth in Southern Brazil.

Private investments in basic sanitation, realized by Conasa Águas de Itapema, according to Silva, has contributed strongly to perception of the city´s quality of life. “It is essential to have quality water distribution and efficient sewage treatment. Our main raw material is tourism, which depends on good beaches and a regular water supply. The city continuously attracts investments because it has been projecting itself as a good place to live and visit", he reinforces.

Also a reference in sanitation

The county of Itapema is also a reference in sanitation indexes in Santa Catarina and in Brazil. “Itapema is an example in water supply universalization with 100% of the population served and of the advances in sewage treatment that currently benefits around 90% of the city´s fixed and floating population, in a country where less than half of the Brazilians have access to sewage treatment”, highlights the superintendent of Conasa Águas de Itapema operations, Denis Grassi.

Recenttly, Conasa Águas de Itapema finished the implementation of 37 kilometers of sewage collection systems in the neighborhoods of Morretes and Jardim Praia Mar and expanded the Sewage Treatment Station , with the implementation of new Technologies, which increased even more its efficiency in organic matter removal operation.   “The impacts of these investments are felt on the continuous improvement of the population´s quality of life and on the county´s socioeconomic indicators that rank Itapema as one of the most sought out tourist destinations in the country”, highlights Grassi.
