THE GOVERNMENT OF ALAGOAS INAUGURATES SEWAGE TREATMENT STATION DELIVERED BY CONASA INFRAESTRUCTURA

Unit built by means of an Asset Leasing Contract between Casal and the Sanema consortium. Total investment in the system reached R$ 185 million

The governor of Alagoas Paulo Dantas and the president of the Alagoas Sanitation Company (Casal), Luiz Neto, will inaugurate, at 9am next Thursday (30), the Sewage Treatment Plant (ETE) Caçadores, located in the Farol nighborhood, behind the Army Barracks, in Maceió.

The unit was built through an Asset Lease Contract between Casal and the Sanema consortium, led by Conasa Infraestrutura, and will serve about 120 thousand people. The investment planned for the entire sanitary sewage system is approximately R$ 185 million, of which about R$ 30 million were invested only in the Treatment Plant. "Access to sewage collection and treatment guarantees to the inhabitants the prevention of diseases, health improvement, a better preserved environment and, also, a real estate valuation", emphasized Casal's president, Luiz Neto.

The collecting networks of this system are in their final implementation phase and include the following neighborhoods in the upper middle part of the capital: Pitanguinha, Gruta de Lourdes, Canaã, Jardim Petrópolis, Farol, Pinheiro, and Santo Amaro. In all, the system will have 80 kilometers of collecting nets, trunk collectors, and booster lines and 18 sewage-pumping stations, besides the Treatment Station itself, which has the capacity to treat 238 liters of sewage per second.

"The participation of the private initiative in infrastructure works is of fundamental importance for the development of the country. Today we collaborate with investments in sanitation, public lighting, and highways, and the construction of the Caçadores Wastewater Treatment Plant. The entire sewage system is another example of how we can help the population to have essential services for health, safety, and quality of life," said Mario Marcondes Neto, president of Conasa Infraestrutura. “

As most of these networks and pumping stations are already ready, the WWTP can already receive and treat the effluent. Residents who already have a collecting system are receiving notices from BRK Ambiental to interconnect as soon as possible. In doing so, they should deactivate septic tanks, commonly used in places that do not have a sewage collecting system.

On the other hand, those who already have the network, but have not yet received the notice, should not interconnect to it for the time being. This is because the property can only be interconnected when the network is finished and the respective pumping stations are also ready. The pumping stations are structures responsible for pumping the sewage through the networks to the WWTP.

Casal and Sanema expect that by the end of August all the pumping stations and networks will be 100% completed, when the other residents will be receiving the communications to interconnect to these structures.
