VIA BRASIL BR-163 SIGNS AN INVENTORY AND ASSET TRANSFER AGREEMENT

Document transfers road system under the responsibility of DNIT to the Concessionaire

Via Brasil BR-163, the concessionaire responsible for the management of the 1,009 kilometers of BR-163/230/MT/PA signed an Inventory and Assets Transfer Agreement, transferring the obligations of the road system of BR-163/MT/PA and BR-230/PA under the management of the National Department of Transportation Infrastructure (DNIT) to the Concessionaire. The signing also means that as of this month, the company is officially authorized to begin the improvements mentioned in the concession contract signed with the National Agency of Land Transportation (ANTT).

The concession contract is for 10 years and the set of improvements planned for this first year of the concession includes complete restoration of the asphalt on the stretches in Mato Grosso and Pará, between Sinop (MT) and the Port of Miritituba (PA), one of the main corridors for transporting grain production from the Midwest and the Northern region.

In addition, during the concession period, three accesses to the Ports of Miritituba (PA) will be implemented and, among other improvements, bridges will be completely rehabilitated, drainage systems, fencing, as well as other conservation services, such as mowing and weeding. These activities are essential to raise the levels of safety and comfort for users, as well as ensuring better traffic flow.

“The project is challenging and of great relevance to the national infrastructure. We have carried out an in-depth study on the project's needs and we are prepared to deliver a new, better and safer highway, especially for grain transporters," says Fernando Fujisawa, CEO of Via Brasil BR-163.

Over the next few months, the concessionaire will also build operational bases to support users, structures with ambulance medical services, mechanical assistance, water tank trucks, restrooms and parking lots, for example. The service also includes monitoring by the Operational Control Center and by inspection vehicles, which operate 24 hours a day along the entire stretch. In the operational phase, planned for later this year, users will also have a 0800 phone number to call for assistance.
