CONASA INFRAESTRUTURA TAKES FULL CONTROL OF ÁGUAS DO SERTÃO

The company acquired Allonda Ambiental's 50% stake in the Consortium that won the concession for sanitation services in Block B in Alagoas

Conasa Infraestrutura, a holding company operating in sanitation, toll roads, and energy, now fully controls Águas do Sertão, a company formed by the consortium with Allonda Ambiental and which officially entered into operation on September 1, 2022.

The company acquired Allonda's remaining 50% stake this year. The change does not alter the concessionaire's organizational structure, as well as management systems, nucleus and subnucleus structure, workflows, procedures, and ongoing policies.

Águas de Sertão took on a 35-year contract to take care of the reservation and distribution of water treated by Casal (Companhia de Saneamento de Alagoas), sewage and commercial services in the region. In three municipalities that are not part of Casal's network, the concessionaire took over the complete sanitation process, from water collection to sewage treatment.

All included, a total of 151 locations are now serviced by the concessionaire, totaling around 600,000 inhabitants. The operation's goal is to universalize water supply by 2027 and sewage treatment by 2033 in Bacia Leiteira and Serrana de Alagoas.

“We will continue working to further boost the development of the Agreste and Sertão de Alagoas regions, acting with ethics, transparency and respect for people”, states the director of Águas do Sertão, André Velloso.

Antonio Hercules Neto, one of the company’s directors, highlights the historical context of water scarcity in several cities where it operates and the company's challenges to transform people's future. “Our daily efforts contribute directly to the advancement of the State in relation to the health and quality of life of the population”, he stresses.

The decision on the total acquisition of the operation is in line with the growth strategy of Conasa Infraestrutura, present in the five regions of Brazil, nine states and generating more than 2.2 thousand jobs.

According to the CEO of Conasa and chairman of the Board of Directors of Águas do Sertão, Mario Marcondes Neto, the concessionaire is one of the main assets of the Group. “We will give all the support to comply with the concession contract and carry out the investments that are so relevant for the 34 municipalities that are part of the operation”, he indicates.
