Around 1,500 students from the Francisco Vitor Alves Municipal School (Morretes) took part in special educational activities to celebrate World Water Day on March 22. Conasa Águas de Itapema organized the initiative with FAACI and the Municipal Education Department.

Between the 19th and 21st, around 300 ninth-grade students participated in guided tours of the Morretes Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to learn about the treatment process from collection to distribution.

“When we turn on the tap and the treated water comes out, we often do so without being aware of the stages that are necessary to guarantee the population’s supply. During the visits, we will show how this process is carried out, from collection to distribution, as well as presenting the procedures needed to ensure that the water is ready to be consumed,” says Denis Grassi, operations superintendent at Conasa Águas de Itapema.

In addition, the KHAOS Scenic Company, from Rio Grande do Sul, performed the play “Conta Gota: Histórias D’Água,” an ecological story that playsfully educates about solidarity, identification with others, and ecological responsibility for around a thousand students from fourth to sixth grade.

The week also included an art and environmental education workshop with the Adorable Robots project, taught by artist Mônica Turato. One hundred eighty third-grade students took part in the activity.

Social and environmental commitment

In this way, the initiative reinforces the company’s social and environmental commitment. This value is present at every stage of the operation. To preserve water resources, Conasa Águas de Itapema carries out projects to recover riparian forests along the water sources it uses to supply its operations.

In addition, the company invests in improvements to the water treatment and distribution system to avoid wasting treated water. Also, its sewage treatment strictly complies with treatment standards, ensuring that the effluent returned to the water resources is in suitable condition.

Thus, by investing in sanitation, Conasa Águas de Itapema contributes to preserving water resources essential for human life.
