The county of Guraguatatuba will soon be considered a Smart City for its street lighting sector, becoming the first city to adopt the smart city concept in Brazil, connected through a public street lighting system.

The Project involves a partnership with CONASA/Urbeluz, NEC Corporation and Caragua Luz. Together with the Guaraguatatuba City Hall, security cameras are being installed with facial and car plates recognition at several locations around the city, integrated with an analytical software, which will allow the evaluation and cross check of a large amount of collected data.

“The county of Caraguatatuba and Caragua Luz had a lot to celebrate in 2018. The city’s Street Lighting PPP project was the first in Brazil to be performed 100%, and the first smart city to consider, through public lighting, integration and security technology to offer tranquility, safety and well-being to the population”, says Pedro Vicente Iacovino, director of Caragua Luz.
