HEROES OF SUMMER, A CONASA & PARTNERS INITIATIVE, MOBILIZES MORE THAN 900 PEOPLE IN ITAPEMA

Tents located on Central and Meia Praia Beaches interacted with tourists and visitors about waste recycling

From January 2 to 14, more than 900 people interacted with information and examples of environmental education aimed at correct waste recycling. The actions occurred in the ‘Heroes of Summer’ campaign tents on Central and Meia Praia beaches. Conasa Águas de Itapema’s initiative included the direct involvement of Faaci (Itapema Coastal Area Environmental Foundation) and the participation of ADI (Association of People with Disabilities for Inclusion).

‘Heroes of Summer’ is a playful campaign created by the concessionaire to encourage the attitudes of heroes who fight the villains who destroy the environment. In this way, the initiative addresses the importance of correct waste disposal, encourages recycling, and raises awareness about the proper use of the sewage collection network by not disposing of solid waste.

Participants received educational giveaways such as water bottles to replace disposable bottles, themed bags for carrying recyclable waste to prevent disposal on beaches or in public places, and containers for the disposal of cigarette butts so they are not thrown into the environment.

Those who visited the tents were also given seedlings of medicinal plants to grow. “During these two weeks, we also collected dozens of kilos of recyclable waste that was brought in by bathers and deposited in the various sculptures set up on the site to house materials such as cans, bottles, plastic, and cardboard,” said Rodrigo Bicudo Merege, Faaci’s environmental education project coordinator.

“The playful appeal was a way of showing that we need to have superhero attitudes to ensure a better and more sustainable environment for everyone. Don’t toss garbage on the ground, correctly dispose of waste that can be recycled, and don’t throw solid objects or even hair and dental floss into the sewage system were the themes of the campaign,” said Denis Grassi, superintendent of Conasa Águas de Itapema.

Among the campaign’s characters are the heroes, Super Recycling, Super Protector, Super Tip, and Super Reflex, and the villains, the Hair Monster, and the Dirty Monster. The campaign pieces can continue to be followed on Conasa Águas de Itapema’s social networks, liked and shared until the end of summer 2024.
