ITAPEMA GUARANTEES SUPPLY DESPITE HIGH CONSUMPTION DEMAND

In the last week of 2018 and the beginning of 2019, the county was an exception on the coast of Santa Catarina.

With a high contingent of visitors, mainly during New Year’s Eve, when Itapema registered the presence of more than 400 thousand people, the city did not suffer from water shortage. In percentiles, the number of tourists was 35% greater than the previous year.

Despite the longer period without rain, water supply capacity in the county was not affected. Ongoing investments in the water supply system has guaranteed, for some years, the distribution of drinking water to 100% of the population, including during periods of great demand such as the summer season.

The city’s total production capacity by five Sewage Plants is currently almost 50 million litters and potable water reservoirs is over 9 million litters. The construction of two untreated water reservoirs with the capacity to store 290 million liters were some of the strategies used to guarantee supply during periods of high demand.

Investments during these almost 15 years of Conasa Águas of Itapema operations in the county made the flow rate of 141 per second, existent in the beginning of the Company’s operations in 2004, jumped to 573 liters per second, making Itapema self-sufficient  during the summer seasons.
